Advantages of ABN pipes

Halogen Free, which is especially important in the instances of fire. This also means that it does not
produce toxic fumes when burning, which protects both people in the building and the environment.

Antimicrobial Protection. Pipes used for drinking water should not contaminate the water supply with germs or substances that may pose potential health hazards to the end users. Metal pipes for instance often deliver oxides to the end users, which can facilitate the growth of pathogens. Installing ABN /INSTAL CT Faser RD pipes ensures that bacteria will not receive any nutrients or have incrustations available where they can grow and multiply, thus contributing to maintaining water quality.

UV Protection. Standard market polypropylenes deteriorate if they remain outdoors for an extended period mainly due to the ultraviolet component of sunlight. They do not provide protection against this radiation; thus, they are not suitable for outdoor installation without protection. ABN includes antioxidant additives that minimise the degradation caused by the sun exposure and are therefore suitable for outdoor installation.

Resistance to disinfection processes. The main advantage of the new piping is the addition to its internal layer of a material that offers enhanced resistance to disinfectants, high resistance to cracks and an excellent long-term resistance. ABN Pipes are designed to meet all the technical requirements for the new drinking water disinfection systems that are mandatory in most countries.

Anti-incrustation protection. The roughness of the pipes and the speed and the quality of the fluids are elements that favour incrustation. A high level of incrustations causes a reduction on the section, increased loss of load and higher energy consumption. Pipe smoothness is directly related to its porosity and, therefore to its ability to prevent incrustations or limescale deposits. ABN pipes are smooth; thus, no section reduction is produced over time, a feature that guarantees the stability of their roughness coefficient.

There is no joint between an ABN pipe and a fitting, they are instead welded by “Thermofusion”. This means that the pipe and connection are fused together at a molecular level, resulting in continuous piping, which ensures the highest degree of safety in water installations.

We use three techniques to weld. These are:

  • Electrofusion Welding
  • Socket Welding
  • Butt Weld

Electrofusion Welding

Electrofusion welding involves passing a current through the coils of the electrofusion fitting. It is advisable for large diameters. Pipes made of similar materials but with different wall thickness can only be joined by electrofusion or socket welding.
